Rosehill Cemetery Guided Walking Tour and Reception

  • Rosehill Cemetery Entrance 5800 North Ravenswood Avenue Chicago, IL, 60660 United States (map)

ICAA Luminaries young professionals group hosted a guided walking tour through the historic Rosehill Cemetery led by Adam Selzer, a Chicago author, historian, and ghost-investigator.

The tour was approximately 60 minutes at a leisurely pace. Rosehill is one of the oldest “garden cemeteries” in Chicago and is known for its roster of famous occupants. Mr. Selzer took a deep dive into the backstories of the permanent residences of the Rosehill Cemetery, including Revolutionary War soldiers, a man who thwarted a Civil War insurrection, and the Victorian-era sculptures that pay homage to the deceased.

A small reception with light snacks and refreshments was held at the residence of one of our members after the tour. Mr. Selzer answered questions. Halloween costumes were welcome. The full moon was waning, and the backyard bonfire chased the spirits and the chill from the air.
