The Luminarts Cultural Foundation is pleased to award (1) $5,000 Luminarts Fellowship for excellence in architectural design work. The ICAA/Luminarts Fellowship is not a project grant; it is unrestricted financial support recognizing promising young talent in the Chicagoland area and surrounding architectural community. Proposals that demonstrate the candidate’s greatest potential for contribution to the continuum of Classical design will be most strongly considered. This fellowship is open to both students and young professionals alike, ages 18-30 years old, and past fellowships have been awarded in both contingents. To be eligible you must be currently enrolled in, or have completed, a degree program, or other professional architecture development program; Live or study within 150 miles of the Chicago Loop.
Submitted portfolio work can include: student work, personal/independent work, professional work (with involvement and contribution clearly noted), and industry related endeavors (craftsmanship/artisanship, sketches/artwork, etc).
Awardees will be invited to attend all Chicago-Midwest ICAA programming and events – educational and social – over the course of one year, free of charge. In addition to access to ICAA programming, the Luminarts Cultural Foundation also welcomes involvement in a full calendar of events, including events for fellows across multiple artistic disciplines, fundraisers, and performances. Once an individual has been designated a Luminarts Fellow, they are eligible to apply for project-specific grant funding for up to 5 years through the Foundation.
Awardees will receive notice of their fellowship on or before September 1st and will be honored with a public presentation at the ICAA’s Acanthus Awards ceremony in October 2024. Applicants that are not awarded the fellowship can, and are encouraged to, continue applying in subsequent years, so long as eligibility requirements are met.
