The Chicago-Midwest ICAA along with Stephen Siegle invite you to explore the grand interior of Union Station. Within this timeless space, you’ll discover a wealth of captivating sketching subjects, from the soaring spaces to the intricate details of sculptures, columns and other classical ornamentation. Participants may sketch in their preferred medium - pencil, pen and ink, colored pencil, or watercolor.
About the Instructor:
Steve has been a practicing architect since 1990, and he has also worked periodically in architectural education, including two years as Visiting Assistant Professor with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's Study Abroad Program at Versailles (now Barcelona). Steve is a proponent of analyzing architecture in the classical tradition of capturing a building's design, proportions and atmospheric qualities directly as observed through hand-drawing techniques. At the onset of the Pandemic, several chapters of the ICAA sponsored a weekly series of "virtual sketch trips" to architectural landmarks around the world. This opportunity renewed Steve's passion for hand drawing and painting in watercolor. Examples of his work can be seen on Instagram @stephendsiegle.
